James Earl Jones
Né un 17 janvier 1931 à Arkabutla, dans l'état du Mississippi (Etats-Unis).
Divorcé, un enfant, un frère.
James Earl Jones n'est pas qu'une voix, c'est aussi un charisme extraordinaire et un talent inouï. Son amour pour la comédie nait dès son plus jeune âge alors qu'il est atteint de bégaiement. Pour en finir avec ce handicap, son médecin lui conseille de se lancer dans le théâtre.
Les résultats sont plus que concluants... Et James Earl Jones tombe littéralement amoureux de la scène !
Il fait les beaux jours de Broadway dès le début des années 60. Il remporte même un Tony Awards pour sa prestation dans "The Great White Hope".
Peu à peu, l'acteur quitte les planches pour se rapprocher des caméras. Il apparait dans "Le Docteur Folamour" et dans "Les comédiens". L'acteur joue alors aux côtés des plus grands.
En 1972, James Earl Jones interprète le premier président Noir Américain dans "The Man".
La voix de l'acteur est devenue sa marque de fabrique. George Lucas le contacte pour doubler dans Star Wars, qui sort en 1977. Il reçoit un cachet de 7000$ pour le film.
Le film connait un immense succès, il participe ensuite aux deux épisodes suivants : "L'empire contre-attaque" et "Le Retour du Jedi".
Il refuse alors que son nom apparaisse au générique des deux premiers épisodes. Il estime que sa contribution est trop "insignifiante" pour qu'il figure parmi les autres acteurs.
James Earl Jones enchaine les rôles. On le voit entre autres dans "Conan le Barbare" et dans " Allan Quatermain et la cité de l'or perdu".
Il joue aussi le père d'Eddy Murphy dans "Un prince à New York", en 1988 et apparait dans "Danger Immédiat" avec .
L'acteur s'essaye au doublage en prêtant sa voix à Mufasa dans "Le Roi Lion" en 1994 ( et dans "Le Roi Lion 2" en 1998 ).
James Earl Jones apparait dans de nombreuses séries dont "Les Experts", Will & Grace", etc...
Plus de vingt ans après, il retrouve le personnage de dans La Revanche des Sith, en 2005.
